IUGG, Dachorganisation für die Koordination globaler Forschungsprojekte auf dem Gebiet der Geophysik (im weiteren Sinne) in sieben Assoziationen: 1) International Association of Geodesy (IAG); 2) International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth\'s Interior (IASPEI); 3) International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth\'s Interior (IAVCEI); 4) International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA); 5) International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics (IAMAP); 6) International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS); 7) International Association for the Physics of the Ocean (IAPSO). Die Gesteinsphysik ist bei IASPEI angesiedelt und die Geodynamik berührt die vier ersten Assoziationen.
